Kindness can heal many wounds and make someone’s day. The Port Washington/Saukville Rotary Club sponsored the “Kindness of Christmas” day at St. Mary’s Campus in beautiful Port Washington. To highlight the activities, Wisconsin author Todd Zimmermann partnered with GAB speaker Adrianne Snow, Outstanding American Miss 2017, to read Todd’s book “Oliver the Ornament”. It’s a story about Christmas ornaments coming alive prior to a families Christmas tree decoration celebration, and how other ornaments bullied Oliver. The story illustrates the kindness of certain ornaments that became upstanders for Oliver and saved the day. St. Mary’s 3rd and 4th graders were enthralled by the story, and afterward could recall which ornaments overcame the bullying with acts of kindness. After each reading, the children were surprised when Todd gave each child a boxed gift of the book with Oliver the ornament.
