As a child growing up in Brown Deer, Wi, Joe Villmow faced academic and personal challenges, including dyslexia and traumatic experiences. In grade school, Joe met a mentor who encouraged him to develop a personal mission statement, one that would later change his life. He achieved that mission – to graduate from Marquette University – where he earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration in 2006. Joe is the owner of four successful and growing companies. From the successes of his businesses, Joe decided to start the EmpowerMe Foundation, whose mission helps high school and undergraduate students develop valuable skills critical to their academic, professional and life successes.

EmpowerMe accomplishes this through programs focused on: identifying one’s values and life mission, professional mentoring and networking, community service, and financial support. Following the footsteps of his mentors, Joe teaches students the same critical business and life skills that led to his own personal success. Joe is now a Best Seller author of the book, “EmpowerMe Life Skills 101: Beyond the Classroom”. He is also John Maxwell’s Certified Coach, trainer and motivational speaker. Joe actively supports the community by serving on the boards of directors of UMOS (United Migrant Opportunity Services), FBI Milwaukee Citizens Academy Alumni Association, Marquette University Business Alumni Board, and lastly, Marquette University Ethnic Alumni Association.

At the core of who he is, Joe’s admiration and love for his community drives his desire to serve.
